<img class="avatar" src="a.deviantart.net/avatars/b/u/b…" alt=":iconbutcheredxbutterfly:" title="butcheredxbutterfly"/> I think this image has some interesting qualities, I like the addition of the hand in the bottom of the frame, it ads some interest. the problem is that the interest is subdued by how contrasty the image is. also, it looks like you de-saturated the image by about 30% maybe more, while that can do some very pretty things, in this image with how contrasty it is, it makes it feel muddy. One thing you can do to help with the strong/overbearing contrast, is get some kind of screen, like a sheet pulled over a frame or something of the like that you can put between the sun and subject. the way you can think of it is you are using the harsh, specular sunlight that you currently have to make a natural soft box, the white sheet becomes the light source, and because it is a very wide and very close light source, it looks much softer and the light will fill in places that are now strictly shadow. its a very great way to get optimal light for flowers, which look so much nicer in soft light.
